The Spirit of Philanthropy Awards Luncheon recognizes community members whose philanthropic acts-both great and small-have brought our community together through generous gifts of time, talent and treasure. The Outstanding Volunteer Group award recognizes a volunteer group (e.g. a corporate or industry volunteer team, a civic/service club, a guild/auxiliary or support group) whose commitment of time, energy, and creativity to a focused project exemplifies volunteerism at its best. National Philanthropy Day is celebrated throughout the nation each year to underscore the role philanthropy plays in enriching our lives and our communities and to acknowledge those who promote philanthropy.
2001 Outstanding Volunteer Group
The Blind Children's Learning Center in Tustin, CA has been receiving "special" binkies for nearly three years. The binkies they receive are textured with wonderful fabric from True Grit and high contrast so that the students can see them. They are used as "burrito binkies" to wrap up and stimulate the children. Each student has one binky for the classroom and one for home. The Itty Bitty Binky Patrol Chapter of Tustin keeps them well supplied throughout the year.
It was an honor to be nominated for such a prestigous award by our own binky recipients. We will treasure our bronze medallion as a reminder of the connection with our recipients.
