House of Hope receives first delivery of binkies

Sue Sonnenburg | About Us > From the section: Binky Recipients
June, 2006 |

June 3, 2006

Today I had the privilege of going to a shelter called House of Hope. It is run by O.C. Rescue Mission and located in Orange. It is a long term program for women and their children. We visited 11 Moms and 20 Children.

Our purpose in going was to deliver beautiful Binky Blankets we had available to distribute. We wrapped them individually with tissue paper and ribbon and used a name tag. We gave them out individually and got to meet the recipients. We had time to talk to them and find out about their successes at this shelter and their dreams. The children were so delighted to have a blanket that was new and unique and picked out just for them. The ages of the children ranged from 1 mo. to 15 yr. old.

I can not say enough about the organization that makes and coordinates the Binky Blankets. It is a wonderful way to demonstrate love and kindness to a child. It is a pleasure to experience the joy of watching the recipient receive such a wonderful gift.

I represent a homeless clothing ministry in Orange County and we have many shelters we look forward to delivering more blankets to needy children. I thank all of you for your dedication and hard work.

Sincerely,
Sue Sonnenberg
