Please join us as we give handmade hugs to children who are in need. We need volunteers to make blankets for sick, traumatized, grieving or homeless children 0-18. Blankets can be knitted, crocheted, fleece tie, and quilted. Our chapter was established in January, 2014, and since then we have distributed over 11000 blankets!
We have made deliveries to the following organizations: St. Vincent's NICU, Bridgeport Hospital, YALE's NICU, Griffin Hospital, Norwalk Hospital, Bridgeport Rescue Mission, The Ronald McDonald House. and the Center for Family Justice, just for starters. We have sent bags and bags of blankets to schools in order to comfort children after a tragedy. We also give out blankets individually, as needs arise.
We have 3 drop offs in Monroe for blankets and yarn/fabric donations: The Bolt Quilt Shop (150 Main Street), Edith Wheeler Memorial Library, and Patience Pediatrics (731 Main Street). Christ the King Church on Madison Avenue and Congregation B'nai Torah on Main Street are our Trumbull Drop Off sites, and Saugatuck Sweets in Fairfield is another drop off.site. You can also drop off at the Mogelof Dental group in Stratford.
We also have a PO box for shipping blankets.
